Miranda Lim, MD, PhD, a neurologist at the Oregon Health & Science University as well as a sleep disorders physician at the VA Portland Health Care System, believes sleep deficiencies in middle age might be linked to Alzheimer’s as you get older. Dr. Lim states, “We used to think that sleep problems were just another symptom of Alzheimer’s. Our big discovery was that the lack of sleep involves brain processes that may develop into the disease.”
